Leena Bhattacharya

volunteer_leenaLeena is the first registered volunteer of SANCHAR. She is currently pursuing M.Sc. in Economics from Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai. She helped us by doing a voiceover for our website, which is accessible for persons with disabilities. Right now, she is helping us in content writing. Leena believes that peace of mind lies in helping others. Besides being a member of the theatre group “Kolkata romROMA”, she loves writing poems in the leisure hours. She wants everyone to look beyond themselves, believe in their dreams and make it a better world. Leena wants to stay connected to SANCHAR and wishes to create a better society.

Sounak Mitra

volunteer_sounakSounak a student of standard XI in Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Kolkata needs an experience in community service before he applies for his higher studies in abroad. But apart from just having a certificate, he says, ‘…… I want to join SANCHAR and contribute something so as to claim that I have worked for others and not just for me.’ Sounak is passionate about photography, which he has taken as an opportunity to volunteer with SANCHAR. He is taking photographs of various activities of SANCHAR that we need for documentation. Sounak is also helping us in creating a blog for the organisation.

Training and Resource Division

Today SANCHAR has built its capacity as a Training Centre at National Level based on its 28 years of experience and has developed a replicable Community Based Rehabilitation model towards a disability inclusive development.

Swabalambi

Swabalambi is an inclusive income generation group of young adults with disabilities and their friends and family members who have already been trained as part of SANCHAR’s livelihood intervention.

Braille Printing Division

The Braille Printing Division was set up in 2005 as part of the Resource Support Unit. Earlier the division used to publish various Acts, advocacy documents, Govt. schemes and facilities both in English and Bengali version.
